It was announced today that Dominique Strauss-Kahn is taking charge of the IMF, which has struggled in recent years. It’s sort of been chasing its tail and not had the respect it should have. Sometimes the IMF issues warnings, issue and is ignored.
Monsieur Strauss-Kahn is known for doing a good job prepping the French for euro integration, he used to be finance minister there around 2000.
He has a name to make for himself the the IMF really has had problems getting richer nations to listen to it, has struggled with some of the big economic problems going on etc. The IMF was clear about credit problems before they even happened, and simply needs the market to listen to it. So keep a heads up about this guy. He may succeed, so when he speaks he may move the market a bit. Today he said the dollar really should be falling, and the euro is will neither fall or rise going forward, which will probably be the stragest thing I’ve heard today.
The IMF’s website is at the top of the list here.
